>>37730388>starters that look like trash, there's better fan artThat's not a strike against the games. That's a strike against Nu-Sugimori art. Sugimori has drawn bad art of Pokemon that ended up being better than the art suggested numerous times- hell, my boy Bewear was one of the worst offenders, I initially thought it looked dumb due to the Sugimori art before falling in love with him when actually-good artists picked him up. This is just one of the most blatant times it's affected the starters.
>Graphically bland and overly cartoonishIt's an art style. They are not going to have muh realism in Pokemon, ever. Get your mind out of fantasy land.
>Upscaled version of S&M...Well, yeah. They used the same engine, because the same engine still works. The Smash Ultimate team did the same with their game, and you don't see people complaining about that.
>...with linear paths, inaccessible mountains/hills/forests, ect. With linear paths, I won't deny that you have a point. Hell, the entire region looks linear.
>Aforementioned starters and Meltan/Melmetal line confirm that any hope for Pokemon designs with "sensible" proportions has well and truly gone out the windowHave muh proportions ever been a part of this franchise?
I'll say it once and I'll say it again. Anons on a Taiwanese spearfishing forum shouldn't dictate what you do and don't like, and they don't for me. As long as it's not another cutscene simulator- which, we don't know if it is or not- I'm jumping in feetfirst.
