Chaining attacks during double battles if both Pokemon have complementary attacks they get a reward depending on what was executed. This could manifest in a stat boost, inflicting a condition, debuffing the opponent, ect.
Being able to avoid attacks with button prompts. Perhaps each word has a command and you need to quickly execute them to avoid damage "Scorbuuny jump out of the way!" -> AXBYXA, this would be randomized and flash too fast for most people to nail it every time, but getting only half of the buttons would still lower the damage received.
