The reason LGPE had the cool "riding pokemon with accurate size" shit was because they had a limited dex there so they could bring back and expand on the feature using all the Pokemon present.
The problem is that so far they haven't shown anything that ambitious in S/S. It SHOULD let them do cool shit, but they aren't doing it as far as they've shown.
If this policy stays, then I hope that they at least do something more interesting in the future games now that everyone expects this.
