>>46027922I don't feel like the issue is competency as he's still an extremely competent trainer in SM and PM. I think it's the maturity and creativity of XY ash that we miss. He still had that "well it's like boom and pow" hard to explain things kind of moments, but when XY Ash put shit into words it was like "holy fuck" From the moment he met Serena in the forest, to challenging and reassuring Clemont, to any interaction where someone needed to be uplifted, even if it was him it was always just an amazing interaction.
Like just comparing the way when he saw dawn crying and was like "you hungry?" but saw serena about to cry and was like "No, this is what she needs, trust me." beautiful.
SM scaled him back to being more naive on the human front but PM has him back to at least giving solid advice.
