>>50517965Despite what people keep saying, I don’t buy it. The Let’s Go games were on new hardware. They are generation 8. The same with PLA. The mechanics of PLA are vastly different compared to the generation 8 games and look closer to the Scarlet and Violet trailers.
In general, the “generations” broadly follow the hardware:
Generation 1 = Gameboy
Generation 2 = Gameboy Color
Generation 3 = Gameboy Advanced
Generation 4 = DS
Generation 5 = DS
Generation 6 = 3DS
Generation 7 = 2/3DS XL
Generation 8 = Switch
Generation 9 = Switch OLED
This isn’t a perfect rule, but it appears to be true more often than not. Even with Sun and Moon, I can see the hardware upgrade. My 3DS has to restart every time I shut down SM or USUM, but my 2DS XL handles just fine.
