Both Pokémon Stadiums with rentals only is fun. I was proud as fuck when I was able to beat Round 1 back in the days. Some months ago I saw people beating the entire game with rentals which was really impressive for me.
Sure, after finding the best strats, which is a skill on its own, it heavily relies on luck but it's a good challenge if you try to come up with that without help.
Also the only "challenge" I enjoy are no EXP runs even though you need emulators for that. You get to use many different Pokémon and grinding won't help you here. Try beating Pokémon Platinum like that and with some more restrictions for example, it's really hard.
