I'm going to have up to gen 8 in the game though most of the pokemon I can't find a organic location for are probably going to be squirled away into the Safari Zone near Cianwood via some modular encounter customization stuff like what HGSS had. I'd like to hear some recommendations for favorite plugins and advice from anyone with more experience. So far I've settled on the improved field skills (though I might make it so only the partner pokemon you get at the start can use that), essentials deluxe, and following pokemon EX. I want to include one of the alternative EV management mods but I haven't decided which yet.
I've already decided that I'm not shoving in the national dex format gimmicks like megas, gigantimax, z-moves, terastalization, and partridges in pear trees, but I might do include the mega forms as alternate forms you can access via a hold item. If I do though I'll cap stat gains to a BST of 540 or whatever the base form has, so some of them like Charizard would just have a different ability and maybe adjusted bases. As much fun as megas are and as good as they are for their potential to fix bad pokemon I don't like the feature creep of having all the things with different resources in a game that doesn't have a story built around it.
I've also decided to do the thing everyone does of fixing movesets (Typhlosian with earth power, meganium having a actual move pool, etc.) but i'm not sure about base stat, typing or ability changes. Everyone says Sunflora should be a fire type and someone spinning up the old team rocket forced evo 5g towers in the story gives me a reason to do it, but that feels a bit weird. I'd like to hear people's opinion on that.
