>>50805647I'd rather a system where they have one of their usual abilities as a default and you allocate the rest. They'd only have a few slots based on their level and growth rate to use. They learn new abilities as they level up as well as through special criteria, events and tutors. Each ability has their own rating based on how good or useful it is. That way already good Pokemon don't completely outclass others by having all their abilities active at once because they only have so many slots available. Take Tyranitar for example:
Ability Slots:
>8 ********Default Ability:
>Sand Stream ****>Unnerve **Ability Pool:
>Guts ***>Sand Veil **>Sand Force **>Intimidate ***>Battle Armor *>Solid Rock **>Anger Point *>No Guard ****Every Pokemon comes with one Default Ability locked in, basically like normal. The remainder Default Abilities are added to the Ability Pool. So if Sand Stream is locked in, that leaves 4 open slots. Now as you can see, Tyranitar has access to a lot of good abilities that are perfectly in theme but can only use 2 or 3 of them at most. So even if a Pokemon has 10 abilities, it can only have 4 maybe 5 active at once. Fair.
