Gen 1 and Gen 2 were the best games of its time.
Although there are better games in the franchise, after gen 4 pokemon games just felt less exciting to get into.
I think the reason people feel the earlier generations were better than the newer ones is because it was when Pokemon was socially acceptable as a game and when many people played the games. I was also one of those kids that shared many memories playing Gen 1 and 2 in school and trading exclusive pokemon and battling amongst friends.
As I assume most people on this board are underage is more than likely not able to see it at a perspective us "veteran" players did in the past is probably what sparks the confusion of all the hate and the genwunnur crap. And then there are those faggots that only played gen 1 and believe it was the best game in the franchise.
