People complained about Iris for different reasons. She has it infinitely worse because the Ashnime completely nuked her appeal in the wider demographic and Game Freak hasn't even tried to redeem her in the slightest. Maybe they thought making her Champion in B2W2 would work but it didn't, especially since she's the first Champion in the series you don't really meet at an earlier point in the game. To this day Iris is either the second best Champion solely because she's not an actual dogshit character like Diantha or Geeta or isn't even a part of the argument in the first place

Jacinthe's haters are just kinda sad they literally ONLY care about her skin color. Even JP at least are offput by her personality because they're vegetarians, but it's not reason number 1 for English speakers. You can't even make a generic, featureless anime girl dark-skinned without upsetting them. It's like insane personality programming to come up with excuses to be mad because they've never had real problems in their lives

Lebanne literally only functions to be humiliated and subordinate. Her Dragon Maid bit is amusing because she's subservient in the first place, it's a great way to do the character compared to just ripping off Tohru wholesale. If Lebanne wasn't being constantly humiliated cause her personality and team are at odds with her appearance and job, she'd be a lot more forgettable and uninteresting

Dragon specialists don't have the best track record in the franchise in terms of appeal. After Clair, you had Drake, Drayden, Iris, Drasna, Zinnia and Ryuki. I think the first SUPER popular Dragon specialist since fucking Johto is Raihan
