So, I've been thinking about the whole "face each other with care" thing, and it seems Greninja is trying to get through Ash in the opening, but Ash tucked his head away in shame, as if he's out of ideas on how to win. I take it Ash gets so focused on winning, that he loses sight of the importance of his team, and Greninja starts to see Ash like one of its past trainers. I find it hard to believe that Greninja would just avoid Ash after that talk of love. Maybe it gets into that phase where it acts independently and doesn't follow orders, which eventually alludes to the bonding/build-up for synchronization?
