BotW sits at 30 million. So does smash ultimate. Mario Odyssey sits at 26 million. This is a fairly normal sales range for nintendo products in the current generation, even amongst their biggest brands.
Pokemon Gold and Silver also sit at 30 million units sold...since their debut in 1999! That's sales numbers spread out roughly 25 years. The fact that SV can get comparable numbers within a single year is nothing to scoff at.
And none of this even takes into consideration that not every unit purchased is played by a single member of the population. Families are likely to share consoles and by extension share the games that come with them. I could go on, but I think you get the idea.
Facts without context are meaningless, anon. The fact that these games don't push 8 billion units proves nothing.
