People saying Infernape has no connection to Cynthia's Garchomp, think again. It sure does, but way back when it was still a Chimchar and under Paul's ownership. That's still a connection, and speaks of Infernape's weakness back in the day. If anything, having Infernape beat Cynthia's Garchomp would be the best way to cap Infernape's own story, not only surpassing Paul, but also the Garchomp he wasn't able to beat as a Chimchar under his former trainer.
If Tomioka really knew what he was doing, he'd put Infernape in the Cynthia fight and have him get the W over the Megachomp.
