Update on the Emerald dark monolocke, comfy berry farming edition:
I steamrolled Flannery with Mightyena. I know, I was SO worried for the torkoal but it used attract against Mightyena as I used dig and it was one shot like the rest of her team. Very anti-climactic.
As you can imagine, Norman wasn't much trouble at all with Sableye, especially because I grabbed toxic so it was just a matter of using detect to cheese the Slaking and switching between members to resist the dark attacks of Vigoroth. Sableye could've honestly just solo'd him, but I was being careful.
After getting surf, the mono dark run opens up so much because I can get Carvanha, Corphish, and eventually the leaf stone for Nuzleaf and Absol once I get to Fortree City. I also picked up a Cacnea after Flannery, which I'm debating on using.
Unfortunately as I was training my Carvanha, and I had JUST evolved her to Sharpedo, she took an unexpected fighting move and was fainted. I am allowing myself multiple recaptures on different routes, so thankfully I can replace my Carvanha, as I will fucking need it badly for the elite four.
Right now, I'm debating either training up a new Carvanha for Winona or trying to win with Corphish instead. I bought ice beam, but thank the lord I knew from experience that you don't teach any valuable TMs until you absolutely need them for a certain fight, otherwise you're doomed to have that pokemon die. I'm feeling more optimistic about this run, this is the first death, so not bad, and I pretty much expected it with a pokemon this frail. Still very worried for both Wallace and Glacia, but I don't think any more gyms will give me trouble. As a side note, I have literally been using every berry plot in the game up to this point, backtracking multiple times between gyms to water these things, and damn is it tedious, but I'm stocked as hell. 20 hours in!
