>>53566987I feel you there. Been working retail the past 3 years after I couldn't take the drafting job anymore and my family moved half way across the country. It's nuts what customers are allowed to do with no consequences. Meanwhile I get paid just enough to cover food and gas and the minute I put up a sign to ask customers to please stop knocking the trash cans over and put their trash IN the can instead of tossing it wherever that's totally out of line. We're supposed to get bonuses if we reach our sales goals for the quarter but we never get them despite working our asses off because "customer satisfaction was too low" but the only negative survey responses are always either people getting frustrated with new employees who are trying their best but still have a lot to learn or it's stupid bullshit beyond our control like "they ran out of the item I came in for" or "your store is too far from my house", then there's total dipshits with stuff like "I placed an order online for the wrong thing and they wouldn't give me the thing I actually needed that's 5x more expensive for free" so even though we have like 30+ positive surveys and like 5 negative ones the bad ones count more so we never get those bonuses despite exceeding sales goals. I'd quit but the only other jobs around here are factory jobs I physically can't do, tried one and the nurse sent me home half way through my first day on the floor because I failed the 2nd breathing test. I'm great with a variety of computer skills but nobody here wants to pay for those skills and I can't work from home without reliable internet which doesn't exist out here. Closing shift hours mostly work for me, but we're short staffed and the manager who handles scheduling would rather have people come in a few hours every day with a day or 2 off at random than let us work 3-5 full shifts and have the other days off, and no amount of us asking her not to do that has worked for more than a couple of weeks.
