>>53516296That's a good idea. In my game I just double EXP gains if a KO wasn't in a trainer battle and multiply it by four if it was.
Seemed faster than coding an EXP multiplier.
Personally I'd love an EXP multiplier like that system Yugioh 2011 Over The Nexus had, where your skill during the game would be rewarded with bonuses at the end.
Even rewarded long duels more than slow duels.
Just imagine using a Pokemon that slowly kills the foe and gaining more EXP for every turn the KO took.
>>53516465Hack developers really expect you to min-max, grind, Pokesav/Pokehex for IVs and EVs and abilities, because if battles can be beaten by people not playing perfectly the game becomes too easy for those who are.
>>53516153You're missing the point entirely. I'm not ignoring EVs and IVs, I'm understanding why they're a parasitic mechanic.
EVs offer value in how they are spent. Countless RPGs offer a stat distribution screen instead of making you EV train.
IVs offer no value. They're either as perfect as everyone else's or they're shit.
In my game people who don't give a shit about EVs and IVs aren't disadvantaged by those who do know and say "Thank fuck a perfectly trained pokemon is just a few Vitamin uses away".
>>53516145No, beating a platform game designed for jumping without jumping is irrelevant to how the jumping is designed. You can beat the game without jumping, but this doesn't make a badly designed jump less shit. You are arguing for shit jumps by arguing for or defending the bad EV/IV system.
Beating a platformer without jumping isn't like beating a Pokemon game without attackiing, it's like beating a Pokemon game without battling. The possibility of it does not justify shit battle mechanics.
>>53516270Level in Pokemon only matters when there is a level mismatch.
Do you know how many formats set/cap level at 50/100 without problems?
If you don't know why you can't get through the first half of my game with just one lv10 Pokemon, try it.
