When I first played yellow I caught a pidgeotto in viridian forest. I thought it was so cool cause I was just like ash. I pretty much only used him and he carried me through the game. My yellow cartridge was bugged, when you start a new game it erases your save even if you didn't overwrite it. My cousin was playing with it and he accidently destroyed the save file and pidgeot was gone forever. Now I always try to have a pidgeot in my party and I'll hack him in if I have to. No matter how much crappier he gets with every new generation, he'll always be my favorite pokemon.
