I'd recommend teaching him Shadow Ball or U-Turn (or other good special moves you may find) to give him decent attacking moves.
Around post-Jonto is when stuff gets good, with access to Signal Beam, Heat Wave, TM Psychic, and the like.
I mean personally I'm using him 'cause I love him.
