As it turned out, his parents moved to Galar and his childhood Empoleon was taken away from him because they're illegal, and rather than sending it back to Sinnoh, it unfortunately died during poor treatment in immigration, so he wants to create/take an alternate universe where his Empoleon didn't die and bring it back.
