I grew up with Blue as my first pokemon game, and later Crystal as my favorite childhood game until I got sapphire, which I also have a lot of fond memories of.
I've enjoyed every pokemon game to date, there isn't a game that is better or worse, except in terms of technological progress, in which case almost every time the newest pokemon game will come out on top.
Ultimately you all are only basing your decisions off nostalgia and not your love of the franchise. This is what kills expectations and new memories
