>>52728192That's an issue though since the anime has made it so easy to acquire strength and high level Pokémon that the protagonists don't wind up having "hard" times anymore. Go was disgusting with how he could just throw a ball and capture anything in his path and actively ruined the adventure and challenge surrounding acquiring Pokémon. It's hard to root for a protagonist that doesn't struggle or have any issues. If Riko captures a ton of Pokémon and beats all her gyms easy peasy the series is DOA. We watched Ash go from absolute shitter to world champion over the course of his time as the lead. We watched him grow and get stronger and wiser. If Riko accomplishes something Ash spent 2 decades doing than it ruins everything he worked for. The few trainers that we've seen like Alain who became Champion tier early on were established from the onset to be strong and already had powerful Pokemon at their disposal. In Leons case he was a prodigy.
My hopes for the new series is that it goes back to the series roots. Have Riko bumming around forests, anime only towns, and fields with only a few Pokémon to her name. Have the first 30-50 episodes only have own 3 Pokémon who she spends all her time with, then over the next 100 have her catch 3 more. I'd rather have a strong bond with her first captures and use them during gym battles than have her catch 100 Pokémon like Go that nobody can remember him catching. Go caught so many Pokémon but outside of Intellion, Cinderace, and Grooky - the Galar starters - I can't name another capture of his.
