However I think the map being basically a linear patch is boring. Being able to go to any region and get whatever type pokemon you like is something that make the game more interesting.
You notice games like megaman let you do that.
I think doing a map with zones like this
>Water zone/town, catch/buy water pokemon and water pokemon gym>Fire zone/town, catch/buy fire pokemon and fire pokemon gym>Grass zone/town, catch/buy grass pokemon and grass pokemon gymWould make the games interesting however nintendo/GF will keep on shitting out the same game as long as it makes money.
