Making a wild pokemon sleep or fall in love also works, and they will sometimes stop fighting if at low health if they're not particularly strong
The daycare no longer gives exp per step, and is instead a replacement for the PC system
Any two pokemon sharing an egg group that are kept in the same field (PC box) can produce an egg
When contacting the Daycare, whether in person or through your phone, you can check on what eggs have been made and give them away or take them into incubation
In addition to this, you can also send them to a training facility, which grants exp per step just as daycares previously did
training facility can also be set to passively increase or decrease EVs
daycares increase happiness passively, training facility decreases it passively
The current set of stats is unsatsifactory because there's never a need to invest into both attacking stats, but I don't have a remotely clean solution to this.
The bonuses/penalties for party member preferences are something I haven't figured out, it's mostly there to encourage variety in a system that no longer punishes you for using 6 water types. It also reinforces them as being defined characters, and is reminiscent of Ash's companions in the anime having certain types they're either fond of or disgusted by.
