Why do people care at all about playing pokemon competitively? The fundamental mechanics and design of the battling system is not and has never been suited for it.
>all that rng
look, some of this can be acceptable in a competitive game if it's kept to an absolute minimum, but good Christ pokemon can't escape the rng for 4 full seconds.
>balancing 700 monsters, hundreds of attacks and abilities and stat spreads that permutate into damn near an infinite amount of combinations.
It would be insanity to expect this to ever be balanced.
>the franchise simply isn't suited or tailored for it.
look, a game can be fun, it can be challenging and require strategy and still not be a 'competitive' game, and even more, it can be essentially a 'kids' game. But I don't get why the competitive crowd gets irate with game freak over 'metagame' issues when they've never been intending this for the series, ever. It was always supposed to be an accessable but somewhat challenging INGAME rpg/monster collector that you can hook up with friends to trade and do some CASUALLY ORIENTED battling. It's not supposed to be the 21st century's vision of chess.
