I'm such a huge pikafag because of the anime, having a Pikachu early game, and also having a Pocket Pikachu. I didn't start the anime until the Ghost of Maiden's Peak so I didn't even know about Raichu until I actually saw it at the Vermillion Gym and my reaction was "Woah wtf is that thing, it's like a bigger meaner Pikachu, I love it!"
Of course thanks to the anime I was too attached to Pikachu at that point, so I caught a second one to evolve and just used them both. I loved them both so much.
The same kind of love never quite extended to Pichu or any of the Pika clones though.
