You can ask any fucking seven year old on the planet "if this guy says 'my name is ???', and this guy asks 'what's that guys name?', what do you tell them?", that seven year old will reply "I'd tell them his name is ??? regardless of how bizarre that is in a real-world setting because that's how it was explained to me".
c). I wasn't fucking incorrect given what the game was telling me, because the rival explicitly says "My name is ???" And the policeman asks "What was the guy's name? He told you what it is!" Again, it was the PUZZLE that was misleading, and the way they changed it in the remake to remove all confusion proves that Game Freak thought so too.
