While I can get the point behind wanting more from a franchise, from a developmental perspective sometimes is good to strip options down a bit IF it means making the smaller options better. If for instance; if you have to cut pokemon/post game content to meet a deadline, put those recources into making the core game better. I have no idea whats going on behind the scenes, but I can guestimate GameFreak is hitting a bit of scope creep. The games originally (back in gen 1-3) had more wiggle room on what people expected. In the current era, people compair linear cinimatic cutscenes, to the worst your game has to offer and cry that its horrible.
