How about a sand whale, that seems like a fun idea. They could be landscape-defining organisms. I imagine them as slow-moving, gradually making deserts larger and the sand within it more silky fine by eating rocks and sand that get in its way sometimes.
You could say they blow dust out the blowhole and cause sandstorms. Hell, you could say it prefers it's body dry and dislikes too much moisture, so when it accumulates too much of it it blasts it out the blowhole thus briefly giving other animals a life-saving water pool
Or if this sand whale spends most of its time with its blowhole poking out at the surface, to breathe, then water could pool there and plant life could grow on the sand whale and you'd have a moving, living oasis. Call it Oasail.
