I like ORAS. a really great romhack of it would truly be peak pokemon.
>>55423157yes I hated Y at the time. It felt unfocused, unfinished, yadda yadda not here to talk about gen 6 but I'll say that it killed all my friends' interest in the series and it was lonely and sad being the only guy left still carrying the torch for the series. I was the only guy I knew in college that picked up Omega Ruby. Which I loved! I honestly think its good with a few nitpicks. Comfy is a great word to describe it and the devteam seemed comfortable with the 3DS hardware by that point. My faves on the 3DS. People were extremely butthurt about battle frontier but I didn't mind.
(Had they added the BF, it wouldve been a lot of hours of post-game singleplayer content. it being removed from the game hurt ORAS's legacy and I think it dropped the game from great to just pretty ok. Which in hyperbolic /v/ terms means "ITS SHIT" "WHY EVEN REMAKE IT IF YOU DROP GEN 3 FEATURES?". I'm not gonna die on the hill of defending ORAS when it left the door open to criticism like that)
Sun and moon were slow and linear and the cutscenes were grating. Game treated the player like a baby. The concept art and basic designs and layout were terrific. Hawaii was a great location. USUM was less of an on-rails theme park and more of a proper Alola game.
All in all the 3DS era was disappointing and felt babyish. a lot of core millennial fans fell off during this era. There is your HONEST retrospective.
hating gen 5 and gen 8 were definitely reddit bandwagons. most of the haters of those gens never even played those games.
>muh icecream and gears>muh dexxithating gen6 is what happens when a longtime fan finally realized Gamefreak was never gonna cater to the west or adult fans. That pokemon was never gonna change from this cycle of mediocrity. It was probably fine for young/new fans.
