Well, aside from the Lucario movie, this is the end of the 4Kids Era of Pokemon. It ended on a fun filler, with May and Ash using a Hitmonchan and Hitmonlee to fight each other over the fate of a noodle shop. Real peak ADV style filler.
Before Battle Frontier, I think Duel Masters had changed all of their VAs in English between seasons, and One Piece obviously went from 4Kids to Funimation, so suddenly Zoro sounded like Piccolo. So it wasn't unheard of when I was a teen, but I also didn't really understand how fucked up the situation was between 4Kids and TPC and how much this would drag down the dub for the future.
I like Sarah Natochenny as Ash. I heard her a lot when watching XY recently, and she honestly did a lot to put some character into Zombie Ash. I am really going to miss Veronica Taylor as May though. Her fucking squeaks when she gets excited put her in a totally different performance league.
I don't want to reopen the dubschizo war from a few days ago, on here, but there is something to be said for how 4Kids handled the localization that gave the Pokemon anime longevitiy in the west. And I'm really gonna miss it.
