Let's figure out what constitutes a "bad" design because I'm still seeing people call all the designs this gen trash and others who love nearly every one. So pick a good and bad design and summarize why. (It will work better if you can find designs that relate well) Respond to criticisms or praise of anons you disagree with if you want
I'm gonna cop out and go easy
>Good Design: Tangela
At the core of what makes Tangela work is the mystery behind its simplicity. It's just an unseen void covered in viny tentacles that inexplicably has shoes. Whether the vines or actual feet inhabit the shoes is also unknown. This feels like the perfect example of a Pocket "Monster" to me and I love(d) that it was just allowed to exist as whatever the fuck it is.
>Bad Design: Tangrowth
It's a common problem in Pokemon evolutions where the need to make something bigger often ruins the perfection of concept in the original form(s). I'd point out the Rolycoly line in SwSH as a good example of this in that Coalossal isn't a terrible design but in the need to go big for the next stage it just ignored the Minecart theme. With Tangrowth we've lost detail but more importantly we've lost concept because of the lower body jutting out of the bottom. Shoes and an indefinite circular body left more to the imagination. With Tangrowth we can start to piece things together and it even develops weird arms and the shoes become stubby feet and it just overall turns into a mess of unfocused design.
