Friendly reminder that if Masuda didn't become a control freak, Pokemon would've completely died after Yellow because the development of Gold was ungodly levels of chaotic and unproductive, struggling for so long that when Tajiri realized he wasn't going to meet his personal deadline, he had a full-on meltdown and completely pulled out, never to be seen again, and it left the already disorderly GameFreak in an even sadder state of affairs.
It was ONLY when Masuda came back, took charge, and retooled the game into the final product (with some famous help from Iwata, for good measure) that Pokemon managed to recover, and then his formula became an easy to follow template that would keep Pokemon sustainable until it could find its next big break, even if he was an insufferable cunt as the power rushed to his head.
You might not like all of his games, but he's the reason the franchise kept going long enough for you to develop new favorites after Kanto when it could've crashed and burned pathetically, with Gold being canceled and all of that new Pokemon hype marketing being a complete waste of money that proves GameFreak is not a company worth working with, therefore causing everyone else to pull out in fear of being rugpulled and having their own money wasted further.
Appreciate him.
