>>38010490Bait or not, Gen 6 was where it fell. Gen 5 was an attempt at giving us everything in pokemon but more. More pokemon, more story, more adventure, all while cutting back on things people complained about, like overly complicated routes and previous gen evolutions (which was a mistake, imagine a Gen 5 with the 'complex' structure of Gen 4's region, or if not for Gen 5, a Gen 6 where the megas are evolutions instead.)
But then it bombed, comparatively, and since then we've got nothing that 5 tried to do. They kept simplifying the routes, they went all in for nostalgia and stopped giving us a good number of new pokemon, thinking that people just wanted more Kanto and not new ideas. Gen 6 was where the routes were pathetically short AND linear, where we got sub-100 new pokemon, where they started pandering hard to nostalgia. That's when it went to seed, and it's all because people shat their pants at B/W not letting them catch 'muh old bwows.' THAT is what told them they shouldn't try anymore, and that pandering to fucking Kanto was how to win fan support going forward. It's all on people like you.
