Making the rabbit not the waifu would be a mistake. Also a fire type ram is an easy yet convincing edgemon, lightly playing off satanic/pagan folkloric undertones simply by being fire and ram. With the success of Lopunny I think if they passed on a nature/fertility themed rabbit design they would be shooting themselves in the foot.
