It seems like another case of Bulbapedia writers expanding a bit too much on some thing they heard of once.
The star references, on the other hand, are legit. Tyl in Japanese and Altair (from the constellation Aquila) in English seem intentionally referenced, and they have to do with a dragon and an eagle respectively.
