You know, I've always been a Gamefreak apologist. I've bought every single mainline game since gen 4, basically. Never complained about a thing. Charge for bank? It's universal storage forever. And it's only 5 bucks a year, and I can always renew it, that was fine. (until they announced that now they can delete your pokemon if you don't renew it.) I like that the new games are having a bit more story to them.
But sword and shield, ever since E3, everything's just been a downward spiral. The animations, the graphics, the dex cut, everything is just getting worse and worse and they just keep doubling down. It's reached a point where I just don't even want the games anymore. Not new, not used, not for free, I just don't want them at all. And that saddens me because I was expecting this game to be like a new Colosseum or Gale of Darkness, but in a mainline game. It's depressing what they're doing with these games, and refusing to even consider just patching them back in later, it just feels like laziness for the sake of "we don't care, you'll buy it anyway."
