You had a good mix between old and new Pokemon to find in the main history, the plot itself was cliche but better than RSE's and not as obstructive to the player as BWs and many mechanics were enhanced, like in the transition between RBY and GSC.
Also Sinnoh is a huge region to explore with a lot of side quests and detours to take, like in GSC.
