The thing about Toby Fox's music is that it's extremely derivative of other videogame soundtracks. I'm not saying he rips off music, I think the problem is that all his influences are from this medium while other composers take inspiration from other places and are more like to mix it up while Toby is stuck on this incestuous cycle of regurgitating what other games already did. Then again the fact that his sound feels so familiar and nostalgic is probably one of the big reasons he's so popular.
