It wasn't 2-3 people. It wasn't "lol you just grew up." The Johtomons are literally better designed, and it's all because Tajiri was around.
I liked nearly EVERY SINGLE MON IN THE JOHTO DEX whereas I only liked Lairon, Milotic, Dusclops and Sceptile when I saw the Hoenn dex.
Many years later, I still find the Hoenn dex boring, plushie tier, and bland except for those mons.
