I tried looking up water-based mythical creatures and I found this thing, could incorporate in some fashion to help adapt to the new fairy typing even if the original creature is more ghost-ish. Vaporeon's already made of water so it wouldn't push the line too much to have semi-visible bones. Cubone wears the skull of its mother so bones wouldn't be anything new to show bones.
