Because then it eventually gets to this stage where a minor inconsistency like solid or blended lines becomes a bigger discussion than it should be. Since it seems the original artist isn't around, one can't be absolutely sure if it's really an inconsistency or an intentional design choice.
It's far too late for any of that though unfortunately. So if a change absolutely has to be made I'd be fine with After (only belly) - the face's tan area has a solid black line so doing the same on the stomach would only make sense to me. Otherwise I'm really fine with it as-is.
