Gen 4 had my favorite pokemon designs overall. Gen 5 did have a couple really cool pokemon, but more often than not I felt like they were too different feeling from every other gen to really have them click with me. I do think I'm getting a similar feeling with X/Y, gen 6 feels a bit distant like how black and white felt when I was trying to get used to them. That said both 5 and 6 have given me several pokemon I really adore, it's just that I also like to take into account the overall quality of the pokedex when I'm judging a generation. Not trying to be "that guy" or anything.
But gen 5 still a shit.
