>>51530220Pros: a fresh break from standard pokemon game mechanics. The battle is fluid and fast. There's no random encounter but you can still get chased by rabid pokemon if you're not careful, adding a sense of suspense that SwSh lacked. Missions (and story mode) actually feels optional. You can spend dozens of time exploring the same area without having to worry about missions and story plot. Characters are full of expressions and colorful. Shiny rate is ridiculously high (not sure whether this is a pro for some players) but in exchange, you can do somethong more addictive (shiny Alpha hunt for example). Plot wise, the story seems kinda linear. But there are some pleasant twists that could surprise you if you don't read spoilers beforehand.
Cons: some mechanics are too far removed from traditional gameplay, die hard fans (especially genwunners) won't like this game. Graphics could've been better and more unique but it look too much like BotW. A lot of favorite moves were culled (even though they added new ones). I was slightly disappointed that they divided the region into several distinct areas instead of one continuous landmass but eventually I kinda understand why they did that. Not enough new pokemon/regional forms to satisfy the Collector in me.
