Many people have good memories of it carrying them through Kanto (I'm guilty of the same, except with blastoise). The shilling continued with TWO really good megas, so it's popular with competitive players now.
Someone explain this thing to me. Literally 1 of two pokemon I actually hate rather than just dislike.
