The irony of Nintendo is that once upon a time, they were a cutting edge hardware developer. But the smartphone era allowed other companies to surpass them so all they could do is imitate them.
I could see a home console dozens of times more powerful than the gamecube, no bigger than a cigarette box, or a portable/adjustable dock you can USB connect to your smartphone to turn any screen into switch screen. It might seem gimmicky, but it sounds cutting edge, and consoles are half marketing gimmicks anyway.
