I wonder if someone can solve this weird dejavu. Back in 2002 (I believe) my sister got me a GBA along with Pokemon Crystal for my birthday. I remember playing the living crap out of that game. I somehow manage to play all the way to the Elite 4 with just my Chikorita and its evolutions. (Yes, I have chosen Chikorita over the other starters). I didn't know you were supposed to level up your other Pokémon individually back in the day so I only trained Chikorita and its evolutions. Since I had a hard time trying to beat the Elite 4, I always restarted the game and play it all over again. I must have done that 5 or 6 times before it got damaged in the washing machine.
Anyways, the reason I made this post is because I never remembered there being animated Pokémon sprites (when they come out of their Pokeball/enter the battle field) nor having the box pop up that tells you what area you just entered. I'm 100% sure I played Crystal because I do remember there being able to select the female character (even I played as her sometimes) and the Eugine-Suicune event that happens during my playthrough. I didn't turn off animations either because I do remember seeing the Pokémon attack animations.
Why is that? Am I remembering it wrong?
