No they never fixed the text speed and probably made the decision to pad out the game's length.

You play Gates when you want a PMD game that has a good story with actual characters. The gameplay shares some of the QOL improvements you already know from Super like combat menus and storage convenience while at the same time offering far less post game content than you can get post game from any of the other games and slowing the rest down with slow text speed. I'm not going to pretend it's some masterpiece of writing, but it blows the other games out of the water.

Oh shit, this makes me so happy.

I actually liked Gates, and even in the trailer, you can tell that Chunsoft are aware of the main complaints of their last Pokémon game.

For example, the Pokémon count is obviously much higher now, and the part with Wailord has a hunger meter. (The "おなか" circle at the top right.)

I agree. It was much better-written than Sky; Though I found it less involving, and the story was much shorter.
