Kanto as a region was pretty good because it allowed you to do many things in any particular order and I appreciate that but I've always felt the originals for kanto and johto have aged pretty poorly
also for what it was LGBT was pretty fun, I don't see why people blindly hate on it, it's nice that gf tried something different to begin with imo, I'm not the biggest fan of the catching or the slightly dumbed down battle mechanics but that really doesn't ruin the overall experience for me though I don't really see it as a mainline title so the lack of those things doesn't bother me too much in those particular games
