All the trainers are Tai Chi pupils who train under Yue, the gym leader. The ponds create a large maze that a trainer needs to travel through. It will teach trainers to look carefully at their surroundings because the lily pads on the pond will give hints towards the right path. Each trainer tell the trainer one of the four Wude after victory, while Yue will give the trainer the last Wude.
The beginner Pokemon are mono in order to show trainers a water type's weakness. Intermediate poses a little challenge because Mantine is neutral to grass types (which are usually abundant early in the game). Expert is a good mix of mono-water and two special water-typing that neglect each of the water's weakness. Lastly, Post E4 has one Pokemon of every generation (counting Mega Blastoise as Gen VI) and shows the versatility and power of water types.
Prize: Froth (a special water equivalent of Steel Wing), Defensive boost from Moon Badge, and the ability to use Surf.
