Pokemon isn't a third-party franchise. Sure, it's owned by Game Freak and TPCI, but at the end of the day, it's Nintendo who writes their checks. And when LGPE does fail, Mario Jumpman Mario is going to break down Game Freak's door and demand to know what sort of crack they'd have to be smoking, to take one of Nintendo's most profitable franchises, one so profitable it's spread out across three companies, just take that and flush it down the shitter.
If Pokemon fails, Masuda gets fired, no question about it. And when Masuda gets fired, you can be damn well sure that Nintendo isn't going to just throw away Pokemon, with how profitable it's been in past years. No, they're going to pull out all the stops to rescue it.
